Meet the Team

  • President

    Charles E. Niesen, MD, is a board-certified pediatric neurologist and the founder of AMS Neurology in Pasadena, California, where he leads a team dedicated to advancing care for children with epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders. Originally from Poughkeepsie, New York, Dr. Niesen earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. He completed his pediatric residency at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital (Case Western Reserve University) and a child neurology fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where he also conducted two years of postgraduate research in neurophysiology at the University of Toronto.

    Dr. Niesen began his academic career at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he established an NIH-funded electrophysiology lab focused on epilepsy in the developing brain. He later joined Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Division of Child Neurology. With over twenty peer-reviewed publications exploring epilepsy and the effects of medications on brain development, Dr. Niesen brings decades of clinical and research expertise to AMS Therapeutics, where he is pioneering innovative therapies aimed at improving language, cognition, and quality of life in children with autism and related neurological conditions.

  • Vice President

    Aram Sogomonian is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in risk management, analytics, and compliance across multiple industries. He has served as a Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer and is highly knowledgeable in all areas of trading risk management. With an educational foundation in marketing and supply-chain management, Aram has applied data-driven strategies to both corporate and sports organizations. As an advisor to the Los Angeles Lakers, he established the Basketball Analytics function, leveraging Big Data to enhance decision-making for coaching, player health, college drafts, and free agency.

    Aram’s entrepreneurial and consulting work spans start-up development, distributed generation, Big Data analytics, and renewable energy systems. He founded Genbright, a BESS and solar development company later acquired by Engie, where he contributed to energy storage optimization and led collaborations with leading universities on machine learning and algorithmic trading research. He also serves as an advisor and investor with the Cal Poly CIE Small Business Development Center, supporting early-stage businesses through mentorship and funding opportunities.
